Vélez-Málaga is a city in the south of Spain, in Andalucia. It is situated in the province of Málaga, in the eastern part of the province called Axarquía and composes the capital of this rural district, 28 kilomtres afar from the city Málaga. The area of this town is 156 km², the number of inhabitants is 64.919 (2005). Vélez-Málaga consists of many districts, like Torre del Mar, Benajarafe, Triana, Trapiche, Almayate Bajo and Almayate Alto, Cajiz, Chilchez and Mezquitilla. Only the half of all inhabitants live in the city of Vélez-Málaga itself.
